I think summer should get a speeding ticket. It’s going by way too fast. But there’s still time to enjoy the best of what summer has to offer before the school year kicks in.

Isn’t it interesting how we all seem to give ourselves permission to relax in the summer? Even if we don’t have the opportunity to enjoy a formal vacation, we tend to enjoy more down time.

Part of my downtime has been spent indulging in a guilty pleasure: Christmas in July on the Hallmark Channel. Have you had a chance to catch any of the movies?

One of the women that works in my marketing department recently shared a story with me about her holiday tradition. Every year for as far back as she can remember, she has purchased a keepsake ornament for her tree. Some years, they’ve only been stamped with the date. Other years, they have had special meaning: New Home, First Christmas Together, New Pet, etc.

As the oldest, she inherited the keepsake ornaments from her childhood. So every year when she decorates her tree, she can revisit the memories of her past. It makes her tree all the more meaningful as it’s part of the fabric of her life. This is why we are in the process of testing our laser on a few different types of keepsake items: ornaments, cups, glasses, wood, and other mementos.
